our approaches
-

anti-colonial approach centring indigenous knowledge.
The majority of individuals involved with Nanoway Therapy are Indigenous Peoples who have faced some sort of oppression or colonialism, whether it be firsthand or intergenerational.
Because of this dynamic, it is important that an anti-colonial framework along with Indigenous Knowledge is centred in Nanoway Therapy's approach to therapy.
Anti-colonial practice goes back to resisting the colonial systems that undermine our Indigenous knowledge and ways of being, as well as our approaches to how we work with Indigenous People.
-

trauma informed.
Nanoway Therapy uses trauma informed approaches to healing. Trauma informed is being mindful and understanding of the historical negative effects that colonial systems have inflicted on Indigenous Peoples.
Nanoway Therapy aspires to empower individuals to heal and thrive by using anti-colonial approaches, centering Indigenous Knowledge, and working wholistically with the four ways of being; Spiritual, Emotional, Physical, and Mental.
-

Narrative + Solution Focused Therapy.
Narrative Therapy uses story telling and personal life experiences to help individuals identify purpose or areas for growth and change.
Solution Focused Therapy utilizes goal setting and inspires individuals to develop personal long term therapy goals.
Nanoway Therapy combines both Narrative and Solution focused approaches with the philosophy of working with individuals wholistically. Individual therapy goals will address the spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental aspects of each individual.
Nanoway Therapy incorporates sharing and identifying personal life stories to promote positive and optimistic visions within individuals, that will inspire positive healing and growth.
