Who we are
KC Bruce M.S.W, R.S.W
I work with both youth and adults in my therapy practice. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Social Work and hold current active registration with Manitoba College of Social Workers. I also have a Masters of Social Work degree with a focus on IK - Indigenous Knowledge. Working with people has always been one of my passions as well as one of my gifts and responsibilities as an Indigenous man who seeks to walk and live Mino-pimatisiwin (the good life).
I work with people with the humility and the realization that we are all responsible for our own healing and growth. My intent is not to heal or fix, but rather to walk along side individuals while guiding and supporting them on their healing journeys. I centre Indigenous Knowledge and Anti-Colonial Social Work in my approach as well as the Nanoway framework of working wholistically with our spirits, hearts, bodies, and minds.
In addition, I will also combine Narrative Methodologies and Solution Focused approaches to therapy while working with individuals on their healing journey.

My name is Josephine Fontaine, and my Spirit Name is Wapiska Geesis Kinew in Anishinaabemowin (White Sun Eagle, in English). I am an artist, Sundancer, world traveller and lover of old music, snakes, whales and scary stories! I have been a land-based therapist with Nanoway since the fall 2022. I am in the process of finishing my bachelor’s degree at University of Manitoba’s Inner City Social Work program.
I am Icelandic and Ojibway; my late father is from Sagkeeng First Nation and my grandfather, Howard Fontaine, was a residential school survivor from Fort Alexander Residential School. I am inspired by both of my cultures to be the best I can be, and both inform my day-to-day therapy work. My favourite outdoor activity to do with the youth is hiking, and my favourite indoor activity is clay and painting.
Tyler Mistelbacher
I was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I’ve spent over a decade working in the child welfare system, providing essential support and care to vulnerable children and families. I’ve been working with Nanoway since 2023.
My journey has been marked by resilience and determination. I’ve overcome homelessness, and transformed my life to become actively involved in the recovery community. This personal experience has fuelled my mission to support those struggling with addiction and to help them evolve into independent, contributing members of society. My professional journey also includes three years of experience at the Addiction Foundation of Manitoba, working closely with individuals struggling with addiction.
In addition to my work as a helper, I’ve been organizing youth hockey camps for the past 12 years, including Nanoway's current hockey program, which teaches teamwork, mental toughness, healthy relationships, and core values.

My Spirit Name is Agawaatesin Ma’iingun in Anishinaabemowin (Shadow Wolf) and I’m from the Wolf Clan. I’m Metis through my Father’s bloodlines, and Russian, Ukrainian, and Irish through my Mother. I have been a land-based therapist with Nanoway since July 2025.
Ceremony, Land-Based Healing, and movement as medicine all carry deep meaning in my life. Nanoway’s focus on balancing our four components (spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical) to help achieve Mino-Pimatisiwin directly aligns with my healing path. I’m humbled and grateful for the opportunity to work and journey with people in these areas.
